Job Title: Shelter Supervisor – West Wing Shelter
Days Off: Sunday & Monday
Pay Range: $41,113 – $46,515 annually
Shift: Swing (3:30 pm – Midnight)
Shift Differential: $0.25 per hour
Location: Downtown/Pioneer Square

DESC is a nationally recognized innovator in homeless services. Since we opened in 1979, DESC has operated emergency shelter for the most vulnerable men and women experiencing homelessness in our community. Unlike traditional shelter systems, DESC incorporates harm reduction principles and trauma informed care into all our work and aims to provide shelter and case management to individuals with mental health and substance use needs. Using this model, DESC partnered with King County to repurpose an unused portion of the King County Jail into a low barrier, enhanced shelter for men experiencing homelessness. Shelter clients are provided on-site case management, medication monitoring, daily meals, belongings storage, and regular access to laundry and showering facilities.

The shift supervisor is responsible for overseeing a small team of shelter coordinators and ensuring all floor duties are completed each shift. Typical duties include monitoring entry into and out of the shelter, serving meals, providing clients with clothing and hygiene supplies, handing out medications, and enforcing shelter rules.
