Willapa Behavioral Health is searching for a full time School-Based Child Mental Health Counselor, covering Pacific County WA area. The therapist will provides mental health treatment and community services to children ages 0-8 in the elementary school setting across Willapa Valley School District, South Bend School District, Naselle School District and Ocean Beach School District in Pacific County WA. Works within agency policies and procedures and within state and ederal statutes and professional code of ethics.
Roles and Responsibilities under this SAMHSA funded position for 5 years:
Work with FQHCs (Cowlitz Family Health Center and Valley View Health Center) and hospitals (Ocean Beach Hospital and Willapa Harbor Hospital) and medical clinics.
❖Train staff on CARE goals, objectives, services, referral protocol
❖Conduct screening for children and parents within primary care settings
❖Conduct follow-up clinical assessments
❖Refer children and parents for in-depth treatment when needed
❖Serve as a patient advocate providing interpretation and guidance
❖Coordinate wraparound services
❖Create individual integrated care plans for children and

Services include program include child & family services, chemical and problem gambling treatments, co-occurring disorders, and medically addicted treatment. A critical service to the community, WBH provides 24/7 Mobile Crisis Services for Pacific County.

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
Experience in providing counseling services to children and youth with a desire to work with children ages 0-8.
Skills required: Minimum two years’ experience working in mental health or related field
Able to maintain good rapport with co-workers. Demonstrate competency in working with a diverse population of children and families.
Demonstrate ability to work effectively with DSM diagnostics.
Knowledge of child/adolescent development, family systems, and community resources.
Knowledge in crisis response.
Willing and able to drive locally in all weather conditions, to local meetings and Willapa Behavioral Health office. Able to meet the driving requirements by insurance company if utilizing WBH vehicle.
Minimum 2 years of experience providing psychotherapy to children and their families.
Training and experience in providing Trauma Focused Therapies.
